The 120 Case Study

The Whole Story in 120 Seconds.

The Situation

You run a signature fundraising event for a nonprofit – and every year, you need it to feel fresh, cohesive, and worth showing up for. The stakes aren’t just attendance. They’re dollars raised, donors retained, and a mission made real in a room full of people who can move the needle.

The Opportunity

For more than 20 years, we have worked alongside the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties on Champions for Children, one of the region’s signature nonprofit events.

Each year, the challenge is the same and different at the same time. The event has to feel fresh. The honoree’s story has to be told well. The room has to feel intentional. And every detail has to support a bigger goal, helping donors connect with the mission and give generously.

The Approach

Because this has been a trusted partnership for more than 20 years, we do not start from scratch.

We start with what matters most that year: the honoree, the mission, the audience in the room, and the kind of experience the Boys and Girls Clubs team wants people to have. From there, we build backward. We look at how the event should feel, what guests should notice, and how every detail can support a stronger connection to the cause.

That vision becomes the foundation for the full creative direction. Event branding. Tribute video. Save the dates. Social media graphics. Email campaigns. Event programs. Silent auction materials. Thank you pieces. Signage and printed elements throughout the space.

Every piece works together to tell one clear story, honor the people being recognized, and help create a night that feels thoughtful, unified, and worth supporting.

The Impact

Year after year, Champions for Children has continued to grow in both quality and results.

The event does more than look polished and feel well put together. It helps drive the outcomes that matter most. Financial goals have continued to climb, and they have been exceeded every single year.

That kind of consistency does not happen by accident. It comes from a long-term partnership, a deep understanding of the organization, and a creative approach built to help each year’s event feel meaningful, memorable, and worth supporting.

The So What

If your nonprofit depends on a signature event to build momentum, strengthen donor relationships, and support the mission, the right creative partner matters.

You need more than good-looking materials. You need a team that understands your organization, sees the bigger picture, and helps every part of the event work together toward a stronger result.

That is what a long-term creative partnership can do. It helps your event feel more intentional, more meaningful, and more effective year after year.

If that is what you are building, we would love to talk.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties has been serving local youth since 1970. Through club locations in Sarasota, Venice, North Port, and Arcadia, they help thousands of young people ages 6 to 18 access after-school and summer programs that support academic success, character development, healthy lifestyles, and career readiness.

But their impact goes far beyond programs alone. This is an organization with deep roots in the community, strong relationships with supporters, and a clear commitment to making sure a child’s future is not limited by their circumstances.

Champions for Children is their signature annual gala. It honors individuals and organizations whose generosity, leadership, and service have made a lasting difference in the lives of local youth.

Each year, a new story is brought to the center of the evening. Sometimes it is one person. Sometimes it is a family. Sometimes it is an organization whose quiet support has helped shape this community for years. And each year, supporters come together to celebrate that impact and raise the funds that keep the mission moving forward.

02

Every Year... "It Has to Be Better Than the Last..."

Annual events come with rising expectations.

Once an event earns a strong reputation, people expect more the next time. They want a fresh experience. They want the evening to feel thoughtful and well planned. And even if they cannot name every detail, they know when it all comes together and when it does not.

For the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties, Champions for Children is more than a fundraiser. It is one of the most important nights of the year. It brings together some of the community’s most generous supporters and gives the organization one powerful opportunity to deepen connection, build trust, and inspire giving.

That creates a clear creative challenge. Each year has to feel new without losing the heart of the event. The branding has to feel intentional. The video has to honor the story in a meaningful way. And every element, from invitations to programs to auction materials and signage, has to feel connected.

Most of all, the event has to move people. It has to help guests feel the mission, see the impact, and respond with generosity.

⚡ The Decision Point

Because we were already deeply connected to the Sarasota nonprofit community, the relationship was already there.

For more than 20 years, we had worked alongside the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties and understood the mission, the audience, and the importance of this event. They did not need a vendor coming in to handle a few pieces. They needed a trusted creative partner who could carry the story across branding, video, print, and digital, then keep bringing fresh thinking year after year.

That is where we fit. Not as an outside team trying to learn the room, but as a long-term partner helping them raise the bar with confidence.

03

The Vibe Comes First. Everything Else Follows.

Most agencies start with a concept board or a visual direction.

We start by listening.

Because this partnership has been built over many years, our process begins with a real understanding of the event, the people in the room, and what the Boys and Girls Clubs team wants guests to feel from the moment they arrive.

Each year, Champions for Children has its own identity. A new honoree. A new theme. A new reason for the community to gather. That theme is not just something that appears on an invitation. It shapes the full experience of the evening, from the atmosphere in the room to the visual details guests see before the program even begins.

So we start there. We sit down with the team and talk through the tone, the setting, the energy, and the moments that matter most. Then we use that understanding to shape creative work that feels connected, intentional, and true to the mission.

💡 The Insight That Shaped Everything

When the room becomes the starting point, every creative decision is grounded in a real experience people can see and feel.

The branding does not just work on a screen. It works in the space. The printed pieces do not just match each other. They fit the room, the details, and the tone of the evening. The tribute video does not feel like a separate piece added at the last minute. It feels like part of the same story.

That is what makes the event feel cohesive. Guests are not taking in disconnected pieces. They are stepping into one clear, intentional experience that honors the moment, strengthens the message, and supports the mission.

That is what happens when you design around the experience in the room, not just what looks good on a screen.

04

Built to Be Felt in Every Detail.

With that foundation in place, we build a complete creative system around each year’s Champions for Children gala.

Because this is a long-term partnership, the work is never generic. Each year starts with a fresh creative direction shaped by the honoree, the theme, and the experience the Boys and Girls Clubs team wants to create in the room. From there, we develop an event brand that carries through every touchpoint and helps the entire evening feel clear, connected, and intentional.

That creative direction extends into the tribute video, which serves as one of the most important storytelling moments of the night. Each video is designed to honor the Champions for Children recipients, reflect their impact, and remind the audience why this work matters to the community. We also create versions that support promotion before the event and follow-up after it.

From there, we build out the full set of event materials. Save the dates. Social media graphics. Email campaigns. Printed programs. Silent auction materials. Place settings. Signage. Thank you pieces. Every detail is created to feel like part of the same story.

The goal is simple. When guests walk into the room, everything they see and experience should work together. That kind of consistency builds trust, strengthens emotion, and helps turn a well-produced event into a more meaningful and effective one.

05

The Bar Keeps Moving. The Results Keep Following.

Here is what a long-term creative partnership actually looks like when it is working.

Each year, Champions for Children has grown. Not just in production quality, but in the results that matter most to the Boys and Girls Clubs. Financial goals have climbed every single year. And every single year, they have been met and exceeded.

That is not just an event success. That is what happens when creative investment compounds over time. Stronger branding helps the event feel more significant. A more significant event creates deeper engagement. Deeper engagement leads to more generous giving. And more generous giving brings people back the following year ready to do it again.

The energy in the room has shifted too. People do not just show up. They look forward to it. They talk about it. They make plans to be there. That kind of anticipation does not come from one good year. It comes from consistent, thoughtful creative work over many years, with a partner who stays invested in the mission and keeps raising the bar.

What This Means For You

If You're a Nonprofit Event Leader, This One's for You.

If your organization depends on a signature fundraising event, you know how much is riding on it.

It has to feel fresh each year without losing the trust and recognition supporters already have. It has to bring together branding, video, print, and promotion in a way that feels clear, consistent, and worth investing in. And it has to do more than look good. It has to help people connect with the mission and respond with generosity.

That is where the right creative partner makes a real difference.

When the event experience is thoughtful from the start, the story gets stronger. The room feels more intentional. The honoree is celebrated well. Donors feel the impact more clearly. And the entire evening works harder for the mission.

You do not need more moving pieces. You need a partner who will listen first, understand what matters most, and help you create an event that feels meaningful, unified, and built to grow year after year.

That is exactly the kind of work we do.

Questions We Get Asked

You're Probably Wondering...

We understand nonprofit budgets. We've worked with organizations across Sarasota for years, and we know how to build a creative package that delivers real impact without waste. The goal is always maximum return on every dollar invested — not maximum scope for scope's sake.

Yes. Strategy, scripting, cinematography, editing, and formatting — all under one roof. The video isn't handed off to a separate vendor. It's built by the same team that designs the branding and the collateral, which is why everything feels like it belongs together.

Every year is a fresh start. We sit down with the Boys & Girls Club team well in advance and build the creative direction from scratch — rooted in that year's theme, honoree, and the look and feel of the room itself. We carry forward the institutional knowledge from previous years, but the design is always new.

The earlier the better — but we've worked across a range of timelines. Ideally, we're involved early enough to help shape the creative direction alongside the event planning team, not just execute against a brief that's already locked. That collaborative window is where the strongest work happens.

Everything the audience sees. Save the dates, social media graphics, e-blast campaigns (pre- and post-event), printed event programs, silent auction posters, place settings, venue signage, branded tribute video (in multiple cuts for different platforms), and thank you cards for attendees and donors.
