If you're a non-profit organization, monetizing your website can be quite the challenge. Luckily, there are a few ways to bring in a bit of a cash flow, allowing your website to grow and become something amazing.

Should I Use Ads On My Non-Profit Website?

Ads are one of the most popular and easiest ways to go when looking to make some easy money. Not only does this help your business due to the influx of money, but also benefits the company that has the advertisement. You'll get paid by the company, while the company receives payment in exposure. It's as simple as putting the graphic of a logo on a specific page of your website! For example, if WalMart decided to place an ad on my website, I could place their logo somewhere on the page and say "Sponsored by WalMart" and get paid. How easy is that? To add to this idea, you can charge different amounts based on the traffic each page receives. If WalMart paid me $300 a month rather than $200 to have an ad featured on my website, they would be placed on the page the most amount of people view to promise for larger amount of people to see. This is where keeping up with you analytics comes in handy, as you are able to observe what is working best for your site and what may need to be tweaked to get more views. By having this system, you can have multiple sponsors or donors, therefore heavily supporting your business and website and helping others in your community.

How Should I Display My Ads?

If you're not a fan of having ads scattered around your website, you can use a sliding list to display the company logos. This sliding list can go anywhere you would like, whether it be towards the top of the home page or down in the footer. Keep in mind although you want this to be seen, you don't want it to take away from the content of your website, so be careful with the placement.

Creating A "Partners" Page

Another way to display sponsorship is through creating a "Partners" page on your website. This page could be found either on the top navigation or in the footer, where visitors would be able to view a list of those businesses that support your company. In this design, all of the sponsors are together on one page listed in text form, generally without a graphic logo. This style is neat and easy to understand, therefore it's very commonly used.

Creative Ways to Monetize Your Non-Profit

While these may be the more popular options, get creative with it! Think about co-branded apparel for a specific program or event such as t-shirts or hats that can be sold as a fundraiser for your site. To make things even more efficient, you can use the preorder system, preventing wasting any money on unsold merchandise that would then have to be given away for free. Unfortunately, there is no secret method that will magically monetize every company's website, as every non-profit has a different clientele and business plan. Whichever way works best for you and your company, go with it and watch your profits grow.
